On September 22nd, ITHAKA held several pre-meeting sessions about our work. Two morning and three afternoon sessions focused on efforts at two major services of ITHAKA – JSTOR and Portico. Topics ranged from a “new to JSTOR workshop” for publishers, to a discussion of preserving “orphaned” or “abandoned” works and Portico’s progress, to the latest efforts underway to support the dissemination, promotion, and use of scholarship on JSTOR.
Our aims in hosting Sustainable Scholarship 2009 were to facilitate a productive exchange of ideas among those most deeply invested in creating a healthy, innovative, and sustainable eco-system for scholarly communication in the future, and to provide examples and actionable ideas that could be used in many institutions and organizations as people plan and execute strategies relating to the creation, dissemination, preservation, and funding of scholarship and other content.
Below is the day’s agenda as well as links for downloading presentations. Please contact events@ithaka.org with any questions.
