Senior Engineer

Alan is a Senior Engineer for the Technology Innovation and Development unit of Ithaka. Alan manages Linux servers and desktops, provides Mac OS X support, manages Plone web servers and Asterisk Voice Over IP systems, and develops software in Python, Perl and other languages for the Research in Information Technology program of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
Prior to joining Ithaka, Alan worked as a developer with the Securities Industry Automation Corporation, where he developed testing tools for the system used to conduct stock trading on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. Alan also worked as a manager and database administrator in the banking industry, as a developer, systems administrator and database administrator at an internet service provider, and as a Geographic Information Systems specialist for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Alan holds a Master of Science in Geography from the Pennsylvania State University and a Bachelor of Science in Geography from Frostburg State University.
