Director, Shared IT

Mark is Ithaka’s Director of Shared IT. His responsibilities include management of the Shared IT group, facilitating vendor relations, and maintaining relationships with the Affiliates. Mark began working with Ithaka in April 2003, coming from the JSTOR technology group where he had worked since 1996. While at JSTOR, Mark was a programmer, Unix systems administrator, and database administrator, before becoming Systems Manager. As Systems Manager he was responsible for administration of Unix, Windows, and database systems as well as networking and desktop PC support. Prior to working for JSTOR, Mark worked with the Institute for Advanced Technology in the Humanities at the University of Virginia where he used an early version of the Java programming language to develop an image viewing and annotation tool. Mark has a BS in Physics from Ohio State University, and an MA in Astronomy from the University of Virginia.
