Research on Institutional Benefits of OSS
I'm enrolled in a course in public Policy here at UMass Boston and have proposed a final paper topic that addresses some public policy issues around the use of OSS in HE. In my proposal I state that "The adoption of OSS has a significant and transformative impact on organizational structures which result in them more flexible and collaborative. Because they are using software tools customized to reflect the unique mission and pedagogical values of the institution they are also more competitive. They accomplish these goals for less money than commercial products. "
My professor has asked me to cite the research that supports my argument. To date I have haven't been able to find any research data on this. Can any one point me in the right direction?
Many thanks
