Eileen G. Fenton

Eileen G. Fenton oversees ITHAKA’s content and technology service unit.

From 2004 to 2011, Ms. Fenton launched and led Portico’s long-term preservation service, which is today preserving thousands of e-journal and e-book titles from more than 90 publishers (representing more than 2,800 scholarly associations) on behalf of more than 650 libraries.

 

Prior to establishing Portico, Ms. Fenton was director of production for JSTOR, another service of ITHAKA, where she oversaw the addition of more than 13 million pages to the archival collections. She has also worked in various positions at the Vanderbilt and Yale University libraries. Ms. Fenton is a librarian and earned a master of science in information from the University of Michigan and a master of arts in English literature from the University of Kentucky.

 

Ms. Fenton is a member of the Society of American Archivists and American Library Association, and served on the advisory board for the LIFE Project. She regularly speaks at industry events and has authored numerous articles and presentations on digital preservation.
