New technologies as varied as course management systems, cell phones, digital slide projectors, and wikis are having an impact on the way that faculty members teach and students learn.  They are creating new opportunities for existing pedagogies, such as traditional lecture formats, while also introducing new and transformative teaching methods. To be sure, the decision to utilize a new technology is not always made primarily for pedagogical purposes, and many other factors, from administrative organization to cost, must be taken into account. As institutions continue to focus on new teaching and learning opportunities, we hope to help by examining successful approaches in specific campus contexts as well as opportunities for collaboration that continue to emerge.
