The Role

As a Director of Human Resources Operations, you will ensure the operational excellence of the entire Work, Life and Culture (WLC) organization and its working within ITHAKA. In this role you will also build and deploy the workflows, processes, frameworks, and standards needed to drive the transformation of the WLC department, including identifying meaningful metrics, assessing value, and identifying actionable insights to drive continuous improvement. This role is pivotal to helping the HR team create, deliver, and track value for all ITHAKAns.

You will be an integral part of the WLC team, which guides talent management, organizational efficiency, leadership development, employee relations, compensation, and recruiting, and will report to the VP of WLC with a dotted line to the Chief Operating Officer.

Responsibilities

STRATEGIC

  • Set and implement HR operational strategies; align human capital with organizational strategy. 
  • Develop solid partnerships with business managers; analyze business information and use it to formulate and steer collaborative HR/business initiatives; and manage WLC programs, policies, and procedures. 
  • Advise senior leadership and help ITHAKA attract, retain, and engage top talent by providing guidance and input on department restructures, change initiatives, talent development, and the succession planning process.
  • Provide HR metrics and reporting for Board and senior leadership.
  • Apply deep understanding of best practices to maintain and improve ITHAKA’s culture and ensure we recruit and engage top talent.
  • Maintain current knowledge of HRIS landscape and trends, especially regarding evolving laws and regulations. 

OPERATIONS

  • Solve complex problems and take a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions, e.g., identify cross-functional projects to drive improvement and liaise with partners in other areas of WLC and Operational Excellence (OE) to promote and maintain needed projects.
  • Oversee, facilitate, and deliver high-quality, responsive, and partnership-focused services to internal customers.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of a framework of mission-based metrics to encourage excellent execution and predict/mitigate negative impacts.
  • Design and reinforce the development of a process for obtaining feedback; conduct holistic analysis of metrics and feedback to identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure the system, processes, and tools are in place for WLC service delivery and performing according to plan.
  • Review delivery performance metrics for gaps and failures, collaborate with stakeholders to learn root causes, and assign projects/accountabilities for resolution.
  • Interpret and draw conclusions from performance metrics and insights, and provide reports to key stakeholders within WLC and the business.
  • Implement and regularly adjust an organizational design that can sustain a business that is continuously evolving and growing.
  • Partner with Legal to develop and maintain compliant policies and practices across all the states where ITHAKA employs people.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to capture key employee and organizational data to assist with workforce planning and advance HR initiatives.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to continuously improve policies and procedures for hiring, terminations, promotions, performance reviews, and employee investigations.
  • Provide operational excellence input on compensation strategies, pay equity, and rewards programs to help us attract and retain top talent.
  • Model a mindset of operational excellence and living our organizational values.

Experience and Skills

  • At least ten years of human resource management experience required, with strategic, talent management, and/or business development experience highly preferred.
  • Proven track record in HR with solid experience in operational leadership; able to execute strategic initiatives in support of a fast-growing technology business.
  • Exceptional relationship and stakeholder management skills; proficient in partnering with diverse stakeholders to identify evolving requirements and engage with internal and external entities to create and deliver.
  • At ease working in a dynamic, agile environment; ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage under shifting priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid program oversight and project management capabilities, and ability to anticipate risks/issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to convey difficult messages with confidence.
  • Great problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to manage data using Excel, Google Sheets, and other data analysis tools; experience reviewing HR data and systems and drawing valuable strategic and operational insights.
  • Experience with Objectives & Key Results (OKRs) a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

At ITHAKA we believe in openness and equity. Part of living those values is our commitment to clarity about salary ranges, so candidates know what to expect. The starting salary for this position ranges from $110,000 to $135,000 per year. Starting pay may vary with job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Our total compensation package for benefits-eligible employees includes employer-paid medical, dental, and vision plans, an employer-paid 10% retirement contribution, paid parental and caregiver leave, 22 days of paid time off, 11 paid holidays, 12 sick days, gym reimbursement, and more.
