The Role
ITHAKA is seeking a Systems Administrator to join our Infrastructure management team, who will be responsible for managing and maintaining Cisco firewalls, performing upgrades to network gear, troubleshooting network related issues, and monitoring our LAN/WANs performance. Our Infrastructure management team maintains and manages the foundational technology systems that supports ITHAKA. You will be the first responder to network related issues and will monitor work queues for network related tasks. You’ll join an agile end-to-end culture where small, diverse, durable, and co-located teams are given the tools and the freedom to collaborate and create, giving them the ability to make impactful changes quickly. This is a terrific opportunity for a Systems Administrator with strong skills to join a small team that works closely with cross-functional teams and reports directly to the Senior Manager, Technology Services.
Responsibilities
The Systems Administrator’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manage and maintain Cisco FMC/FTD firewalls, implementing/modifying policies while maintaining a secure infrastructure.
- Evaluate and help resolve network performance issues such as: availability, utilization, throughput, and latency.
- Prioritize and resolve support requests based on their urgency. Escalate to senior engineers as necessary.
- Provide support and assistance to the engineering team in developing strategies and delivering innovative solutions.
- Install and maintain network hardware and software, including routine security patching and performance tuning.
- Develop and maintain clear, concise, procedural and network system documentation.
- Occasional travel between offices may be required (less than 5%)
- Provide consistent after-hours support to ensure timely resolution of issues and maintain operational continuity.
- After hours includes 24/7 on call responsibilities, as well as scheduled maintenance to be performed outside of business hours.
Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, and in addition to the following requirements, a minimum of four years equivalent professional experience will be accepted.
- 3 or more years of previous network administration experience supporting a complex enterprise class network infrastructure across multiple office and data-center locations, both on-premise and in the public cloud.
- Current Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and/or Cisco Certified Network Expert (CCNE) certification.
- Intermediate experience with Cisco FMC & FTD firewalls, and Snort policy.
- Familiarity with administration of Cisco switches and routers.
- Advanced knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol.
- Familiarity/experience with AWS VPC and similar cloud technologies.
- Detail oriented with a demonstrated customer service focused mindset.
- Ability to work closely with a multi-location, multi-discipline team and have the communication skills to overcome distance between locations.
- Working knowledge of command line toolsets and scripting languages.
- Ability to lift and rack equipment weighing up to 40 pounds and work with data wiring overhead on ladders.

Compensation and Benefits
At ITHAKA we believe in openness and equity. Part of living those values is our commitment to clarity about salary ranges, so candidates know what to expect. The starting salary for this position ranges from $85,000 to $105,000 per year. Starting pay may vary with job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At present, our total compensation package for benefits-eligible employees includes medical, dental, and vision plans, an employer-paid 10% retirement contribution, paid parental and caregiver leave, 22 days of paid time off, 11 paid holidays, up to 12 sick days, wellness benefits, and more.
