Ithaka S+R, a service of ITHAKA, is a non-profit research and consulting service that helps the academic and cultural communities serve the public good and navigate economic, technological, and demographic change. Team members conduct major research projects and consult with academic libraries, scholarly publishers, software companies, learned societies, museums, and universities. We help these organizations better support scholarship, instruction, community engagement, and student success by empowering them to gather and to effectively utilize evidence that supports good strategic decision-making and service offerings. Examples of our current projects include major initiatives to support employee engagement in museums, libraries, and other community organizations; cohort-based strategic collaborations to modernize collections and services; a program of work to support higher education for the incarcerated; and studies of organizational leadership.
The Role
Ithaka S+R is seeking a Senior Analyst with the Libraries, Scholarly, Communication, and Museums (LSCM) program, with an emphasis on quantitative research projects including survey design and analysis. You will work with a variety of colleagues, leaders, and researchers, managing their inputs and helping deliver projects on time and within budget. Our growing team offers unique opportunities for your research skills and project management talent to play a vital role in helping academic and cultural heritage communities serve the public good and navigate organizational, technological, and policy change. Members of the Ithaka S+R’s LSCM program conduct and publish major research projects and consult with higher education institutions, academic libraries, archives, museums, scholarly publishers, and funders.
As a Senior Analyst, you will work collaboratively on research projects that lead to publications including grant-funded research, case studies, landscape reviews, and large-scale national surveys. Responsibilities of this role include designing and administering research projects, coding and analyzing quantitative and qualitative datasets, drafting reports and presentations, appending and cleaning datasets, and conducting desk research, with significant responsibility for high-quality, on-time completion.

Responsibilities
Research and Analysis (40%)
- Develop quantitative research plans involving diverse data gathering methods, potentially including large-scale data gathering from multiple sources.
- Oversee survey design and administration.
- Perform descriptive and inferential statistical analysis (including t-tests, ANOVAs, chi-square tests, correlations, regressions, etc.).
- Independently perform key parts of research projects, including developing research plans and synthesizing findings.
- Provide logistical support for research efforts, such as collecting and maintaining research metadata, managing relationships, utilizing data analysis tools, and managing institutional review board processes.
- Conduct desk research, utilizing secondary research sources to address key research questions and inform our understanding of the community.
Reporting and communications (30%)
- Write emails, memos, and briefs to clearly communicate concepts and processes to internal and external stakeholders.
- Design compelling mechanisms for tracking and presenting analysis.
- Communicate findings and recommendations via written and oral presentations to staff and clients at conferences and webinars.
- Represent Ithaka S+R at conferences, networking events, and client engagements.
- Some travel required for research, reporting, and representation purposes – approximately 10%.
Project Management (20%)
- Coordinate and track activities of numerous stakeholders across multiple institutions and propose ideas for process improvement.
- Independently develop and maintain project plans and keep individuals, teams, and collaborators on track to meet deadlines.
- Supervise team members in the context of projects for which you are responsible.
- Select appropriate tools and methods to suit projects constrained by timelines and/ or budget
Other (10%)
- Develop strong relationships with internal and external partners.
- Organize and participate in brainstorming sessions to generate ideas and in business development by developing project proposals and research plans.
- Maintain awareness of major community issues that may impact our projects.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
Experience and Skills
- Master’s or doctoral degree, with preference to quantitative or mixed-methods backgrounds in a relevant social science field.
- Two years of relevant full-time research experience.
- Proven experience developing and implementing quantitative models, analyzing large datasets, and conducting statistical analysis tests appropriate to various datasets and research questions.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in leading complex projects, including supervising the work of others in the context of those projects.
- Experience with statistical analysis and various software (e.g. STATA, SPSS, Python, Qualtrics, R, NVIVO, DEDOOSE).
- Advanced research skills and demonstrated experience organizing and carrying out research projects.
- Ability to translate complex concepts and research data into compelling, accessible, and well-written reports and engaging presentations.
- Ability to navigate complex relationships and stakeholder interests and make sense of ambiguity.
- Ability to prioritize and manage your own work, perform well under pressure, and meet deadlines, while ensuring acute attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work in our open, collaborative, and team-oriented culture.
- Foundational knowledge of challenges within cultural heritage contexts or higher education will be extremely helpful.

Compensation and Benefits
At ITHAKA we believe in openness and equity. Part of living those values is our commitment to clarity about salary ranges, so candidates know what to expect. The starting salary for this position ranges from $62,000 to $75,000 per year. Starting pay may vary with job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Our total compensation package for benefits-eligible employees includes employer-paid medical, dental, and vision plans, an employer-paid 10% retirement contribution, paid parental and caregiver leave, 22 days of paid time off, 11 paid holidays, up to 12 sick days, gym reimbursement, and more. #LI-JS1
