Investing in the future of education and knowledge
From discovering opportunities, to building, incubating, and investing in new services, our ITHAKA Labs team works at the forefront of our mission.
At ITHAKA, we provide nonprofit services—JSTOR, Portico, and Ithaka S+R—that create more affordable, sustainable access to knowledge and education. To maximize our mission-impact, we also scout, build, and invest in new opportunities in collaboration with others who share our values and care as much as we do about changing the status quo.
Our ITHAKA Labs team leads this work.
Over more than a decade, first as JSTOR Labs and now as ITHAKA Labs, our team has produced high-impact and award-winning projects and services. Current incubations include JSTOR Access in Prison and Transfer Explorer, both aimed at helping improve educational attainment.
ITHAKA Labs also evaluates and pursues selective investments in companies leveraging technology to transform various aspects of the learning enterprise to help more students and researchers succeed. Investments, whether they succeed or fail, provide opportunities for learning and impact. Current investments include Hypothesis and Perlego.
Learning and innovating are at the heart of ITHAKA’s mission and our culture. We invite our community of funders, colleges and universities, and academic publishers and libraries to visit ITHAKA Labs and reach out to us with your challenges, ideas, and opportunities.
