We are thrilled to announce our 2025 Summer Internship Program! We’re hiring 17 people to be part of our 2025 Internship Program that runs for 12 weeks in the Spring (March 3) and Summer (June 2).
Established in 2018, ITHAKA’s internship program has kickstarted the careers of hundreds of interns. For 12 weeks, ITHAKA’s interns are fully embedded within our teams, gaining valuable insight and hands-on experience in their chosen field while making impactful connections with colleagues.
Our program is project-based, so interns meet real needs for our mission-focused nonprofit organization. Previous projects have included collaborating with our Data Intelligence team to develop analytical dashboards and support data governance initiatives, as well as partnering with our Open Collections team to enhance Open Access data by investigating unclassified journals and identifying potential licensing opportunities. ITHAKA interns express a deep feeling of accomplishment; their experience culminates in a low-key organization-wide presentation of their projects and celebration of their work. As they roll up their sleeves, they get the chance to work closely with their team, while also fostering their interests outside of their project scope.
“One thing that surprised me about my internship at ITHAKA is how adaptable they are,” says Juni Ahari, a 2019 intern who is now Marketing Manager for Ithaka S+R. “My intern manager asked me multiple times if there was anything I wanted to get experience with. He made sure that I had the opportunity to pursue those things even if they weren’t necessarily within my job description as an intern.”
ITHAKA prioritizes providing interns with the support they need to be successful in their roles. In addition to regular meetings with their intern managers and the rest of the internship cohort, each intern is assigned a “buddy.” The buddy program connects interns with a member of their team who serves as a resource throughout the program and provides advice and mentorship. ”I also got to meet with people across the organization and conduct informational interviews to learn about what they were doing and get a broad and deep picture of all the amazing things that are happening across the organization.” Says Danny Braun, a 2023 intern and Senior Operations and Development Specialist at ITHAKA.
“Internships are an important part of our hiring ecosystem,” says Jade Song, ITHAKA’s Senior Manager of Talent Acquisition. “Not only do our interns gain invaluable experience in their field, but in turn they provide our organization with great work, diverse perspectives, and expand our hiring pipeline.” Though most interns go on to begin their careers at other organizations, many of them, like Juni and Danny, transition to full time employment at ITHAKA. “Wherever our interns land, we aim for ITHAKA to be a valuable part of their journey,” adds Song.
